The Giants got pushed around last night by the Jets.  Eli Manning looked like he didn’t want to play last night as he completed 15 of 30 passes for 200 yards with 0 TD passes and 2 INTs.  David Carr was even worse as he completed 5 of 12 passes for 36 yards without a TD pass or INT.  Brandon Jacobs led the way on the ground for the Giants last night with 51 yards on 10 carries (5.1 ypc) before he was ejected from the game for fighting with a Jets’ defender.  Danny Ware pitched in with 37 yards rushing on 8 carries (4.6 ypc) and 3 catches for 24 yards (8.0 avg).  WRs Hakeem Nicks (5 rec, 71 yards) and Mario Manningham (3 rec, 36 yards) led the way in the passing game for the Giants.  The Giants finished up with 105 yards rushing on 25 carries (4.2 ypc) and they also completed 20 of 42 passes (47.6%) for 222 yards.

David Carr is pushing Sage Rosenfels for the back QB for the New York Giants

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General,The Pre-Season by admin on Thursday 25 August 2011 at 5:13 pm

Sage Rosenfels was the backup QB for the Giants in 2011 and he has looked pretty decent so far in the pre-season.  Rosenfels has completed 13 of 19 passes (68.4%) for 129 yards with 0 TD passes and 0 INTs (87.4 QB Rating) during the pre-season.  David Carr has been electric so far in the pre-season though, so he is pushing Rosenfels for his spot on the depth chart.  Carr has completed 9 of 11 passes (81.8%) for 84 yards with 2 TD passes and 0 INTs (138.1 QB Rating).  He has also carried the ball 1 time for 17 yards.  It will be interesting to see how this competition shakes out.  Either way, the Giants have to be very pleased with the depth that they have at QB heading into the 2011 season.

The Giants didn’t show much offensively last night as they only scored 3 of the points.  Eli Manning started the game at QB last night and he didn’t look too sharp in completing 4 of 9 passes for 36 yards.  Sage Rosenfels looked the best of the 3 QBs that played for the Giants last night.  He completed 13 of 19 passes for 129 yards with 0 TD passes and 0 INTs.  Ryan Perriloux finished up this game at QB for the Giants and he completed 5 of 9 passes for 67 yards with 0 TD passes and 0 INTs.  Ahmad Bradshaw led the way for the Giants last night with 21 yards rushing on 5 carries (4.2 ypc).  Danny Ware carried the ball 7 times for 19 yards (2.7 ypc) and he also caught 3 passes for 24 yards (8.0 avg) in this game.  WR Domenik Hixon led the way in the passing game for the Giants in this game with 5 grabs for 86 yards (17.2 avg).  The Giants rushed for 81 yards on 25 carries (3.2 ypc) and they also completed 22 of 37 passes (59.5%) for 217 yards.

This game had the potential to get ugly for the Giants with Eli Manning and Jim Sorgi not available due to injury.  That meant that Rhett Bomar had to play the whole game under center for the Giants.  He completed 13 of 26 passes for 167 yards with 1 INT.  But he also ran the ball 3 times for 21 yards (7.0 ypc) in this game.  Andre Brown led the way on the ground for the Giants in this game with 61 yards rushing on 13 carries (4.7 ypc) with 1 TD run.  Ahmad Bradshaw pitched in with 28 yards rushing on six carries (4.7 ypc) with 1 TD run.  WRs Steve Smith (2 rec, 53 yards) and Victor Cruz (2 rec, 30 yards) led the way in the passing game for the Giants on Saturday Night.  The Giants finished up with 129 yards rushing (4.3 ypc) and 151 yards passing in this game.

The Giants really kicked butt offensively last night despite only having possession of the ball for 23:12.  Eli Manning started the game and he completed 4 of 8 passes for 77 yards.  He had to leave the game due to a big gash on his forehead which required 12 stitches to close.  Jim Sorgi followed Manning at QB and he was pretty good completing 8 of 15 passes for 146 yards with 2 TD passes and 0 INTs.  Rhett Bomar finished up the game for the Giants by completing 6 of 7 passes for 67 yards with 1 TD pass and 0 INTs.  He also carried the ball 2 times for 22 yards (11.0 ypc).  Andre Brown led the way on the ground for the Giants in this game with 26 yards rushing on 5 carries (5.2 ypc).  Brandon Jacobs (4 car, 1 yard, TD) and Ahmad Bradshaw (3 car, -1 yard and 2 rec, 58 yards) didn’t look their best last night against the Jets.  Undrafted rookie WR Victor Cruz was the star of the game last night for the Giants as he caught 6 passes for 145 yards (24.2 avg) with 3 TD grabs.  The Giants finished up with 63 yards rushing (3.0 ypc) and 290 yards passing lasst night.
