The New York Giants have placed Brian Jackson on I.R.

Blogged under Big G-Men News,Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Injury Reports by admin on Sunday 4 September 2011 at 5:25 pm

The Giants have placed 24-year old CB Brian Jackson on the Injured Reserve List due to a back injury.  Jackson played in 12 games as a rookie for the Giants last year and he had 9 tackles.  The Giants keep losing DBs like crazy.  This is a bad break for Jackson as he could have gotten some serious P.T. in 2011.

The New York Giants have placed LB Clint Sintim on I.R.

The Giants have placed 25-year old linebacker Clint Sintim on the Injured Reserve List due to a torn patellar tendon.  Sintim played in 13 games for the Giants last year and he had 13 tackles.  He has now played in 24 games in his first two years with the Giants and he has 33 tackles, 1 tackle for a loss and 1 sack.  This will hurt the Giants’ depth at linebacker and the special teams a little bit.

The New York Giants lose rookie DT Marvin Austin for the season

Blogged under Big G-Men News,Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Injury Reports,The Draft Report by admin on Tuesday 23 August 2011 at 9:42 pm

The Giants have lost 22-year old rookie DT Marvin Austin for the entire 2011 season due to a torn left pectoral muscle.  This is another blow to the Giants’ defense as they had high hopes for Austin, starting this year.  They took him in the second round of the 2011 NFL Draft last April out of North Carolina.  The Giants hope that Austin will pay attention to what goes on in his rookie year, as he would do well to learn as much as he can before he takes the field in 2012.

The New York Giants lose CB Brian Witherspoon for the season

Blogged under Big G-Men News,Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Injury Reports by admin on Tuesday 23 August 2011 at 9:39 pm

The Giants have lost 26-year old CB Brian Witherspoon for the 2011 season due to an ACL tear.  Witherspoon played in 1 game for the Giants last year but he didn’t make any tackles.  He has played in 22 games in his first 3 years in the NFL and he has 16 tackles.  This will really hurt the depth for the Giants at corner as they are falling down like flies.

The New York Giants lose CB Terrell Thomas for the season

Blogged under Big G-Men News,Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Injury Reports by admin on Tuesday 23 August 2011 at 1:24 pm

The New York Giants will be without 26-year old CB Terrell Thomas for the rest of the season as he tore his right ACL in last night’s game against the Bears.  This is a gigantic blow to the Giants’ D as Thomas is a pretty darn good corner.  Thomas played in all 16 games for the Giants last year and he had 101 tackles, 1 sack, 4 forced fumbles, 1 fumble recovery, 4 tackles for a loss, 5 interceptions and 21 passes defensed.  Thomas has now played in 44 games in his first three years with the Giants and he has 231 tackles, 14 tackles for a loss, 2 sacks, 6 forced fumbles, 1 fumble recovery, 38 passes defensed and 11 interceptions (1 returned for a TD).  The Giants are going to likely have big time issues in the secondary as they will try to cover for Thomas in 2011 and that won’t be easy.

The New York Giants lose DE Osi Umenyiora for a while

Blogged under Big G-Men News,Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Injury Reports by admin on Saturday 20 August 2011 at 4:05 am

The New York Giants will be without 29-year old DE Osi Umenyiora for the next 4-6 weeks after undergoing knee surgery earlier today.  Umenyiora played in all 16 games for the Giants last year and he had 48 tackles, 11.5 sacks, 10 forced fumbles, 1 fumble recovery, 2 passes defensed and 2 tackles for a loss.  This is a big blow to the Giants as Umenyiora was one of the best DEs in the entire NFL last year.

The New York Giants lose CB Bruce Johnson to injury

Blogged under Big G-Men News,Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Injury Reports by admin on Friday 5 August 2011 at 3:04 pm

The Giants will be without 23-year old cornerback Bruce Johnson for the whole 2011 season as he has torn his Achilles tendon.  Johnson played in 6 games for the Giants last year and he had 5 tackles.  Johnson has now played in 22 games in his first 2 years with the Giants and he has 51 tackles, 8 passes defensed, 2 interceptions (1 returned for a TD), 1 sack and 2 forced fumbles.  The Giants were planning on moving Johnson up the depth chart this year but that will have to wait until at least 2012.

Rich Seubert of the New York Giants was injured pretty bad in the season finale

Blogged under Big G-Men News,Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Injury Reports by admin on Wednesday 5 January 2011 at 10:00 pm

31-year old G/C Rich Seubert had surgery yesterday to repair a dislocated kneecap.  He might not be ready for training camp because of this injury.  Seubert played in 16 games (all starts) for the Giants last season.  He has now played in 104 games (88 starts) in his first 10 years with the Giants.  We’ll see if the Giants decide to bring Seubert back next season because he faces a long recovery time due to this injury.

The New York Giants place Will Blackmon on I.R.

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Injury Reports by admin on Friday 31 December 2010 at 11:29 pm

The New York Giants have placed CB/KR/PR Will Blackmon on I.R. ending his year due to a knee problem.  Blackmon played in 5 games for the Giants this season working mostly on special teams as he only had 2 tackles this year.  Blackmon also returned 13 kickoffs for 238 yards (18.3 avg) and 14 punts for 94 yards (6.7 avg).  The Giants won’t miss him the rest of the season and he has likely played his last game for them.

The New York Giants lose Dave Tollefson for a while

Blogged under Big G-Men News,Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Injury Reports by admin on Friday 24 December 2010 at 5:15 am

The New York Giants will be without DE Dave Tollefson for the next 2-4 weeks due to a MCL sprain.  Tollefson has played in 13 games for the Giants so far this year and he has 20 tackles, 1/2 a sack, 3 passes defensed and he has forced 3 fumbles.  Tollefson has now played in 47 games in his first four years with the Giants and he has 60 tackles, 4 passes defensed, 5 sacks and 3 forced fumbles.  Tollefson’s injury will hurt the Giants’ depth along the D-Line.
