San Francisco 49ers 27, New York Giants 20

The New York Giants battled hard yesterday, but in the end, they weren’t as good as the 49ers were.  Eli Manning was solid as he completed 26 of 40 passes for 311 yards with 2 TD passes and 2 INTs.  Brandon Jacobs rushed for 55 yards on 18 carries (3.1 ypc) and he also caught 2 passes for 17 yards  (8.5 avg) in this game.  D.J. Ware pitched in with 34 yards on 9 carries (3.8 ypc) and he also caught 5 passes for 34 yards (6.8 avg).  WRs Victor Cruz (6 rec, 84 yards), Mario Manningham (6 rec, 77 yards, TD) and Hakeem Nicks (2 rec, 41 yards, TD) led the way in the passing game for the Giants.  The Giants finished up with 93 yards rushing on 29 carries (3.2 ypc) and they also completed 26 of 40 passes (65%) for 302 yards as they had possession of the ball for 34:37.

The Giants D played pretty good despite what it says on the scoreboard.  Safeties Kenny Phillips (5 tackles, 1 pass defensed) and Antrel Rolle (5 tackles and 1 pass defensed) led the way for the Giants in this game.  CB Corey Webster pitched in with 3 tackles, 1 pass defensed and 1 interception yesterday.  The 49ers finished up with 77 yards rushing on 20 carries (3.9 ypc) and they also completed 19 of 30 passes (63.3%) for 228 yards.  The Giants are still in first place in the NFC East with a 6-3 record.

The New York Giants looked really solid yesterday.  Eli Manning threw a 1-yard TD pass to TE Jake Ballard with 15 seconds left in the game to essentially finish off the Patriots in Foxboro yesterday.  Manning completed 20 of 39 passes for 250 yards with 2 TD passes and 1 INT.  He also carried the ball 3 times for 11 yards (3.7 ypc).  Brandon Jacobs took over as the starting RB for the Giants yesterday and he was impressive.  Jacobs carried the ball 18 times for 72 yards (4.0 ypc) with 1 TD run and he also caught 4 passes for 28 yards (7.0 avg) in this game.  D.J. Ware pitched in with 23 yards rushing on 7 carries (3.3 ypc) in this game.  WR Victor Cruz (6 rec, 91 yards), TE Jake Ballard (4 rec, 67 yards, TD) and WR Mario Manningham (3 rec, 33 yards, TD) led the way in the passing game for the Giants yesterday.  The Giants finished up with 111 yards rushing on 29 carries (3.8 ypc) and they also completed 20 of 39 passes (51.3%) for 250 yards as they had possession of the ball for 30:17.

The defense gave up a lot of yards yesterday, but they also made a lot of HUGE plays which effected the outscome of this game.  Mathias Kiwanuka (12 tackles, 1 pass defensed and 1 interception), Michael Boley (10 tackles, 1 pass defensed and 1 sack) and Kenny Phillips (8 tackles) led the way for the Giants on D in this game.  Deon Grant (4 tackles, 2 passes defensed and 1 interception), LB Jacquian Williams (fumble recovery) and LB Spener Paysinger (fumble recovery) also had big plays for the Giants on D yesterday.  The Patriots finished up with 106 yards rushing on 24 carries (4.4 ypc) and they also completed 28 of 49 passes (57.1%) for 332 yards in this game.  The Giants are now 6-2 on the year.

New York Giants 20, Miami Dolphins 17

The New York Giants were sparring with the Dolphins for three quarters before hitting them with the knockout punch in the 4th quarter when they outscored them 10-0.  Eli Manning was outstanding yesterday as he completed 31 of 45 passes for 349 yards with 2 TD passes and 0 INTs.  Ahmad Bradshaw led the way on the ground for the Giants yesterday with 13 carries for 50 yards (3.8 ypc) and he also caught 5 passes for 38 yards (7.6 avg) in this game.  WR Victor Cruz led the way for the Giants in the air yesterday as he caught 7 passes for 99 yards with 1 TD grab.  WR Hakeem Nicks (6 rec, 67 yards), WR Mario Manningham (6 rec, 63 yards, TD) and TE Jake Ballard (4 rec, 55 yards) also pitched in for the Giants in the passing game yesterday.  The Giants finished up with 58 yards rushing on 23 carries (2.5 ypc) and they also completed 31 of 45 passes (68.9%) for 344 yards as they had possession of the ball for 32:26.

The defense was solid against the pass but not too good against the run yesterday.  LBs Mathias Kiwanuka (7 tackles, 1 tackle for a loss, 1.5 sacks and 2 QB hits), Michael Boley (6 tackles, 1 tackle for a loss) and Greg Jones (5 tackles) led the way for the Giants’ D yesterday.  DE Jason Pierre-Paul (5 tackles, 1 sack, 1 tackle for a loss and 2 QB hits) and CB Corey Webster (4 tackles, 3 passes defensed and 1 interception) also had big games for the Giants yesterday.  The Dolphins finished up with 145 yards rushing on 26 carries (5.6 ypc) and they also completed 13 of 22 passes (59.1%) for 101 yards.  The Giants are now 5-2 on the season.

The New York Giants won a hard fought battle with the Bills yesterday.  Eli Manning was solid as he completed 21 of 32 passes for 292 yards without a TD pass or an interception.  Ahmad Bradshaw was the main man for the Giants yesterday as he carried the ball 26 times for 104 yards (4.0 ypc) with 3 TD runs.  He also caught 2 passes for 26 yards (13.0 avg) in this game.  D.J. Ware pitched in with 19 yards rushing on 5 carries (3.8 ypc) last night.  WR Hakeem Nicks (4 rec, 96 yards), TE Jake Ballard (5 rec, 81 yards) and Mario Manningham (5 rec, 56 yards) led the way in the passing game for the Giants yesterday.  The Giants finished up with 122 yards rushing on 33 carries (3.7 ypc) and they also completed 21 of 32 passes (65.6%) for 292 yards as they had possession of the ball for 30:47.

The defense didn’t play too well for the Giants yesterday.  LB Michael Boley (8 tackles, 1 tackle for a loss), safety Antrel Rolle (8 tackles, 1 tackle for a loss), OLB/DE Mathias Kiwanuka (7 tackles and 1 sack), safety Kenny Phillips (7 tackles) and CB Corey Webster (5 tackles, 3 passes defensed and 2 interceptions) led the way on D for the Giants in this game.  The Bills finished up with 155 yards rushing on 23 carries (6.7 ypc) and they also completed 21 of 30 passes (70%) for 219 yards in this game.  The Giants are now 4-2 on the year.

Seattle Seahawks 36, New York Giants 25

The Giants lost this game because they played pretty awful both offensively and defensively today.  Eli Manning just didn’t have it today.  He completed 24 of 39 passes for 420 yards with 3 TD passes and 3 INTs.  One of his INTs was returned 94 yards for a TD by Seahawks’ corner Brandon Browner.  He also lost a fumble today.  Ahmad Bradshaw led the way on the ground for the Giants today with 17 carries for 58 yards (3.4 ypc).  He also caught 2 passes for 27 yards (13.5 avg) in this game.  D.J. Ware pitched in with 4 carries for 3 yards (0.8 ypc) and he also caught 1 pass for 22 yards.  Ware was tackled in the end zone by Seahawks’ DE Anthony Hargrove for a safety.  Victor Cruz led the way for the Giants in the passing game today with 8 grabs for 161 yards (20.1 avg) with 1 TD grab.  TE Jake Ballard (3 rec, 72 yards, TD), WR Hakeem Nicks (4 rec, 65 yards, TD) and WR Mario Manningham (5 rec, 56 yards) also had solid games for the Giants today.  The Giants finished up with 69 yards rushing on 25 carries (2.8 ypc) and they also completed 24 of 39 passes (61.5%) for 395 yards as they had possession of the ball for 31:14.

The defense had six sacks today, but overall they played a pretty poor game.  LB Jacquian Williams (8 tackles, 1 pass defensed), safety Antrel Rolle (8 tackles) and LB Michael Boley (7 tackles, 1 tackle for a loss and 1 fumble recovery) led the way for the Giants today on D.  DE Jason Pierre-Paul (6 tackles, 2 tackles for a loss, 2.5 sacks, 1 pass defensed and 4 QB hits), safety Deon Grant (6 tackles, 1 tackle for a loss, 1 sack, 2 passes defensed and 1 QB hit) and DE Osi Umenyiora (4 tackles, 2 tackles for a loss, 1.5 sacks and 2 QB hits) also had big time impacts on the D today.  DT Rocky Benard (fumble recovery) and CB Aaron Ross (interception) also pitched in for the Giants today with some big plays.  The Seahawks finished up with 145 yards rushing on 29 carries (5.0 ypc) and they also completed 26 of 41 passes (63.4%) for 279 yards.  The Giants are now 3-2 on the year.

New York Giants 31, Arizona Cardinals 27

The New York Giants scored 2 TDs in the last 3:37 of the game today to steal a win in Arizona.  Eli Manning was pretty solid in this game as he completed 27 of 40 passes for 321 yards with 2 TD passes and 0 INTs.  Ahmad Bradshaw had a rough game as he carried the ball 12 times for 39 yards (3.3 ypc) with 1 TD run and he also caught 4 passes for 11 yards (2.8 avg) with a lost fumble.  Brandon Jacobs didn’t do much either as he carried the ball 9 times for 18 yards (2.0 ypc) with 1 TD run.  WR Hakeem Nicks led the way in the passing game with 10 grabs for 162 yards (16.2 avg) with 1 TD grab.  WR Victor Cruz (6 rec, 98 yards) and TE Jake Ballard (3 rec, 33 yards, TD) also pitched in for the Giants in the passing game.  The Giants rushed for only 54 yards on 24 carries (2.3 ypc) and they also completed 27 of 40 passes (67.5%) for 306 yards as they had possession of the ball for 28:01.

The defense didn’t play too well today for the Giants.  LB Michael Boley (9 tackles), LB Jacquian Williams (6 tackles, 1 fumble recovery) and safety Antrel Rolle (6 tackles, 2 passes defensed and 1 interception) led the way for the Giants’ on D in this game.  DEs Dave Tollefson and Osi Umenyiora each pitched in with 2 sacks apiece for the Giants today.  The Cardinals finished up with 156 yards rushing on 32 carries (4.9 ypc) and they also completed 20 of 34 passes (58.8%) for 212 yards.  The Giants are now 3-1 on the year.

New York Giants 29, Philadelphia Eagles 16

The New York Giants started quick (14 points in the first quarter) and they finished strongly (scored 15 unanswered points in the 4th quarter) to put away the Eagles yesterday.  Eli Manning shredded the so-called great secondary of the Eagles as he completed 16 of 23 passes for 254 yards with 4 TD passes and 0 INTs.  Ahmad Bradshaw led the way on the ground for the Giants yesterday with 86 yards rushing on 15 carries (5.7 ypc) plus he also caught 5 passes for 53 yards (10.6 avg) with 1 TD grab.  Brandon Jacobs only rushed for 19 yards on 7 carries (2.7 ypc) but he also caught 2 passes for 42 yards (21.0 avg) with 1 TD grab.  WR Victor Cruz really stepped up big time for the Giants in this game with 3 grabs for 110 yards (36.7 avg) with 2 TD grabs.  The Giants finished up with 102 yards rushing on 25 carries (4.1 ypc) and they also completed 16 of 23 passes (69.6%) for 232 yards as they only had the ball for 23:09 in this game.

The defense was on the field a long time and they gave up a lot of yards, but they made big plays when they had to.  LB Jacquain Williams (10 tackles, 1 tackle for a loss), DE Jason Pierre-Paul (9 tackles, 2 tackles for a loss, 2 sacks and 2 QB hits) and safety Kenny Phillips (9 tackles, 1 pass defensed and 1 interception) led the way for the Giants’ on D in this game.  CB Aaron Ross also made some big plays as he had 5 tackles, 3 passes defensed and 2 interceptions.  The Eagles rushed for 177 yards on 40 carries (4.4 ypc) and they also completed 20 of 30 passes (66.7%) for 199 yards in this game.  The Giants are now 2-1 on the year.

New York Giants 28, St. Louis Rams 16

The Giants made a lot of big plays on defense and that was the biggest reason for the win last night.  Safety Antrel Rolle (9 tackles), LB Jacquian Williams (7 tackles) and LB Michael Boley (6 tackles, 1 pass defensed, 1 QB hit and a fumble recovery that he returned 65 yards for a TD) led the way for the Giants’ D last night.  DEs Justin Tuck (5 tackles, 2 tackles for a loss, 1.5 sacks and 3 QB hits) and Dave Tollefson (fumble recovery) also made big plays for the Giants last night.  The Rams finished up with 59 yards rushing on 19 carries (3.1 ypc) and they also completed 22 of 46 passes (47.8%) for 308 yards in this game.

Eli Manning has a so-so game as he completed 18 of 29 passes for 200 yards with 2 TD passes and 1 INT.  Ahmad Bradshaw led the way on the ground for the Giants last night with 59 yards rushing on 15 carries (3.9 ypc) and he also caught 5 passes for 45 yards (9.0 avg).  Brandon Jacobs also was solid last night with 16 carries for 50 yards (3.1 ypc) with 1 TD carry and he caught 1 pass for 17 yards.  WRs Mario Manningham (3 rec, 56 yards), Domenik Hixon (2 rec, 29 yards, TD) and Hakeem Nicks (3 rec, 15 yards, TD) led the way in the passing game for the Giants last night.  The Giants rushed for 119 yards on 38 carries (3.1 ypc) last night and they also completed 18 of 29 passes (62.1%) for 181 yards last night as they had possession of the ball for 34:12.  The Giants are now 1-1 on the year.

Washington Redskins 28, New York Giants 14

The Giants got pushed around by the Redskins yesteday in the nation’s capital.  Eli Manning was off as he completed 18 of 32 passes for 268 yards with 0 TD passes and 1 INT (the interception was returned 9 yards for a TD by rookie OLB Ryan Kerrigan).  Manning also carried the ball 1 time for 2 yards and it went for a TD.  Ahmad Bradshaw had a rough time with only 44 yards rushing on 13 carries (3.4 ypc) with 1 TD run in this game.  Brandon Jacobs only carried the ball six times, but he had 29 yards rushing (4.8 ypc) in this contest.  WR Hakeem Nicks had a big game for the Giants as he caught 7 passes for 122 yards (17.4 avg).  TE Jake Ballard (2 rec, 59 yards) and WR Mario Manningham (4 rec, 49 yards) also pitched in for the Giants in the passing game. The Giants rushed for 75 yards on 20 carries (3.8 ypc) and they also completed 18 of 32 passes (56.3%) for 240 yards as they had possession of the ball for 27:24.

The defense was solid against the Redkins’ running game but they couldn’t stop Rex Grossman and the passing game.  Safety Kenny Phillips (9 tackles and 2 passes defensed) and safety Antrel Rolle (7 tackles) led the way for the Giants’ D yesterday.  But, DE Jason Pierre-Paul had the most impressive game for the Giants on D as he had 6 tackles, 2 sacks, 3 tackles for a loss and 1 QB hit.  LB Michael Boley pitched in with 4 tackles and 1 fumble recovery.  The Redskins rushed for 74 yards on 26 carries (2.8 ypc) and they also completed 21 of 34 passes (61.8%) for 258 yards in this game.  The Giants start the 2011 season out with a 0-1 record.

The Giants didn’t play great by any means yesterday but just good enough to prevail.  Eli Manning was solid as he completed 17 of 29 passes for 243 yards with 1 TD pass and 1 INT.  He also carried the ball 4 times for 11 yards (2.8 ypc) in this game.  Brandon Jacobs led the way for the Giants in this game with 49 yards rushing on 13 carries (3.8 ypc) with a TD run.  Ahmad Bradshaw only could muster 22 yards rushing on 15 carries (1.5 ypc) yesterday and he also caught 2 passes for 8 yards.  WRs Mario Manningham (4 rec, 101 yards, TD) and Derek Hagan (6 rec, 70 yards) led the way in the passing game for the Giants yesterday.  The Giants finished up with 82 yards rushing on 32 carries (2.6 ypc) and they also completed 17 of 29 passes for 243 yards as they had possession of the ball for 32:20.

CB Terrell Thomas (10 tackles and 1 pass defensed) and DE Osi Umenyiora (5 tackles, 1 tackle for a loss, 2 sacks, 2 QB hits and 1 fumble recovery) led the way for the Giants’ D in this game.  Safety Kenny Phillips (fumble recovery), DE Jason Pierre-Paul (fumble recovery) and LB Keith Bulluck (interception) also made huge plays for the Giants on D in this game.  The Redskins finished up with 67 yards rushing on 20 carries (3.4 ypc) and they also completed 26 of 44 passes for 318 yards.  The Giants finished up this season with a 10-6 record which has them in 2nd place in the NFC East with no playoffs.
