The Giants have signed 27-year old safety Antrel Rolle to a 5-year, $37 million dollar deal with $15 million of it guaranteed.  Rolle played in 15 games for the Cardinals last season and he made 72 tackles, 2 tackles for a loss, he had 1.5 sacks, 1 forced fumble, he defensed 8 passes and he had 4 interceptions.  Rolle has now played in 68 games in his NFL career and he has made 337 tackles, defensed 36 passes, he has 1.5 sacks, 3 forced fumbles and he has 12 interceptions (4 of which he returned for TDs).  This was a great signing for the Giants as Rolle is a big time playmaker at the back end of the defense.

The Giants have signed CB/S D.J. Johnson off the practice squad of the Broncos who they happen to be playing on Thanksgiving.  He has never played in a NFL game yet but he has volunteered a lot of inside info on the Broncos.  I’m stunned that more teams don’t do this.

The Giants have signed WR Shaun Bodiford.  Bodiford was on the Injured Reserve List all of last season for the Packers.  In three seasons with the Packers Bodiford only caught 1 pass for 13 yards.  He also returned 6 punts for 25 yards (4.2 avg) and 7 kickoffs for 122 yards (17.4 avg) in his career in Green Bay.  Don’t expect much out of Bodiford in 2009 if he even makes the Giants’ roster.

The Giants have signed 28-year old TE George Wrighster.  Wrighster played in 5 games for the Jaguars last season and he caught 2 passes for 35 yards (17.5 avg).  He has now played in 67 games in his 6-year NFL career and he has caught 94 passes for 850 yards (9.0 avg) with 9 TD grabs.  TE is a wide open spot on the Giants so Wrighster could get a lot of playing time in 2009.

The Giants have signed 26-year old safety C.C. Brown to a 1-year contract.  Brown played in 3 games for the Texans last season and he made 15 tackles and defensed 1 pass.  When Brown is healthy he’s a pretty good safety.  Brown has played in 50 games in his 4-year NFL career and he has made 255 tackles, defensed 16 passes, has 5 sacks, forced 4 fumbles and he has intercepted 3 passes.  This was a good signing for the Giants.
