The Giants have placed 26-year old WR Sinorice Moss on the Injured Reserve List with a sports hernia.  Moss played in 8 games last season for the Giants and he only caught 1 pass for 18 yards.  Moss also returned 11 punts for 74 yards (6.7 avg) and 6 kickoffs for 109 yards (18.2 avg) last year.  He might have gotten cut if he didn’t get hurt as the Giants’ brass is running out of patience with him.

The New York Giants place Jim Sorgi on I.R.

The Giants have put 29-year old backup QB Jim Sorgi on the Injured Reserve List with a shoulder injury.  Sorgi played in 1 pre-season game for the Giants this year and he completed 8 of 15 (53.3%) passes for 146 yards with 2 TD passes and 0 INTs (126.7 QB Rating).  This leaves Rhett Bomar as the second string QB right now.  Bomar has played in all 3 pre-season games for the Giants and he has completed 29 of 53 passes (54.7%) for 374 yards with 2 TD passes and 1 INT (81.8 QB Rating).  Bomar also has carried the ball 6 times for 43 yards (7.2 ypc) this pre-season.  The Giants will likely be on the hunt on cut down day trying to add another QB.

The New York Giants lose Jim Sorgi for at least 2-3 weeks

Blogged under Bloglockers, Front Page, Big G-Men News, Injury Reports, General by admin on Friday 20 August 2010 at 3:23 pm

The New York Giants will be without backup QB Jim Sorgi for the next 2-3 weeks due to a torn capsule and a partial dislocation in his right shoulder.  This really hurts the Giants for this weekend’s game against the Steelers as Eli Manning is also out due to his horrific forehead injury last week that required quite a few stiches to close.  That means that Rhett Bomar will likely play most of the game with Dominic Randolph getting some action despite just getting signed recently.  Bomar was effective in the Giants’ first pre-season game completing 6 of 7 passes for 67 yards with 1 TD pass and 0 INTs.  But instead of going against Jets’ scrubs he will be dealing with the Steelers first and second team D.

The New York Giants sign safety John Busing

The Giants have signed 26-year old John Busing.  Busing played in 16 games for the Texans last season and he had 32 tackles, 3 passes defensed and 1 interception.  He has now played in 43 games in parts of 4 years in the NFL and he has 57 tackles, 3 passes defensed and 1 interception.  Busing will help out on special teams and provide depth to the defensive backfield so this signing will likely help the Giants in 2010.

The New York Giants claim OLB Alex Hall off waivers

The Giants have claimed 24-year old OLB Alex Hall off waivers from the Eagles.  Hall played in 14 games for the Browns last season and he had 10 tackles and 1 fumble recovery.  He has now played in 30 games in two years in the NFL and he has 38 tackles, 3 sacks and 2 forced fumbles.  This was a good move for the Giants as Hall has a nice upside.  If nothing else he can help the Giants on special teams.
