The Giants played a good all-around game to hold off the Redskins.  Eli Manning was sharp as he completed 20 of 29 passes for 256 yards with 1 TD pass and 1 interception.  Ahmad Bradshaw led the way in the running game for the Giants with 60 yards on 12 carries (5.0 ypc).  He also caught 3 passes for 11 yards (3.7 avg) in this game.  Brandon Jacobs was also busy carrying the ball 16 times for 46 yards (2.9 ypc) and catching 2 passes for 17 yards.  Steve Smith led the way in the passing game for the Giants with 6 catches for 80 yards (13.3 avg).  Mario Manningham had the best game of his career for the Giants catching 3 passes for 58 yards (19.3 avg) with a TD.  Kevin Boss pitched in with 3 catches for 62 yards (20.7 avg).  The Giants finished up with 351 total yards on offense (103 rushing, 248 passing) in this game.

The defense was pretty solid against the Redskins.  Linebacker Chase Blackburn led the way for the Giants in this game with 8 tackles and 1/2 a sack.  Osi Umenyiora was also busy with 4 tackles and a sack.  He also forced a fumble that he recovered and returned 37 yards for a TD.  The Redskins finished up with only 272 total yards on offense (85 rushing, 187 passing) in this game.

New York Giants vs. Washington Redskins

The Giants pushed the Redskins around last season sweeping them and outscoring them 37-14!  The physical playing style of the Giants had a lot to do with that and that’s a big reason why the Redskins laid out the jack for Albert Haynesworth.  The Giants won’t change however as Brandon Jacobs and Ahmad Bradshaw will be pounding away at the interior of the Redskins’ D.  If the Giants establish the running game the Redskins will be in trouble as Eli Manning is a master at play action.  The Redskins have three legit corners (DeAngelo Hall, Carlos Rogers and Fred Smoot) and they match up very well with the Giants’ WRs.  With that in mind look for Kevin Boss to get a lot of action in the short passing game.

The Redskins should open up the offense in this game and let Jason Campbell throw the ball downfield.  Big plays will be there for Antwaan Randle El and Santana Moss if Campbell can get them the football.  Chris Cooley will also likely have a solid game for the Skins tomorrow.  Clinton Portis and Ladell Betts will also get a lot of work in on Sunday in New Jersey.

PREDICTION:  NEW YORK GIANTS 21, WASHINGTON REDSKINS 20

The Giants played hard on offense in this game it’s too bad the defense didn’t show up.  Eli Manning was in and out of this game quickly as he completed all 3 of his pass attempts for 76 yards with a TD.  David Carr was even better than Manning and he was 6 for 6 passing for 153 yards with 2 TD passes.  Andre Woodson was terrible in this game completing 6 of 19 passes for 98 yards with 1 pickoff.  Rhett Bomar was also putrid in this game completing 2 of 7 passes for 40 yards with 1 interception.  Allen Patrick led the way on the ground for the Giants with 50 yards rushing on 8 carries (6.3 ypc).  Mario Manningham led the way for the Giants in this game with 4 catches for 74 yards (18.5 avg).  Hakeem Nicks only caught 1 pass in this game but he made it count as it went for a 64-yard TD.  Sinorice Moss also had a game to remember as he caught 2 passes for 35 yards (17.5 avg) and they both went for TDs.   The Giants finished up with 474 total yards on offense (118 rushing, 356 passing) in this game.

CB Travonti Johnson led a poor Giants’ effort on D with 8 tackles.  The Patriots finished up with 377 total yards in this game (149 rushing, 228 passing) in this game.  The Giants finished the pre-season with a 1-3 record.
