New York Giants vs. Arizona Cardinals

This has all of the potential to be a great football game tomorrow.  The defending champion New York Giants are 9-1 on the season while the Cardinals are 7-3.  To quote World Champion Wrestler Ric Flair, “To Be The Man You Have To Beat The Man!”  That’s what is facing the Cardinals tomorrow at home.  The Giants love to run the football and they will try it against a Cardinals’ defense that is only allowing 89.8 yards rushing per game and 3.8 ypc.  Still, the Giants average 172.7 yards rushing per game and 5.3 ypc so Jacobs, Bradshaw and Ward will likely get their yards.  The Cardinals have 23 sacks this season and 10 interceptions so they will be putting a lot of pressure on Eli Manning who has been solid this season.  The Cardinals are allowing 210.0 yards passing per game this season so the Giants could have some success through the air tomorrow.

The Giants have 31 sacks and 14 interceptions this season but that won’t stop Kurt Warner from throwing the football early and often.  Larry Fitzgerald, Anquan Boldin and Steve Breaston are a tough matchup for any secondary and if Warner has time to throw he will be successful.  The running game is a mess right now for the Cardinals and they will likely have a hard time moving the ball on the ground against a Giants’ defense allowing 91.0 yards rushing per game.

PREDICTION:  ARIZONA CARDINALS 27, NEW YORK GIANTS 24

The New York Giants place WR David Tyree on I.R.

The Giants have placed Super Bowl star David Tyree on the Injured Reserve List ending his season due to a hamstring injury.  Tyree followed up his big time game on football’s largest stage with a 0 catch 2008.  28-year old Tyree has played in 73 games his NFL career and he has caught 54 passes for 650 yards (12.0 avg) with 4 TD grabs.  The Giants haven’t missed Tyree one bit as they are very deep at WR.

Dallas Cowboys vs. New York Giants

Blogged under Bloglockers, Front Page, This Week's Matchup Report, General by admin on Sunday 2 November 2008 at 8:00 am

The Cowboys are reeling right now losing 2 of their last three games while the Giants are rolling again this season with a 6-1 record.  The best chance the Cowboys have to win this game will be by running the ball with Marion Barber and playing good defense.  That will be easier said than done as the Giants are only allowing 86.0 yards rushing per game and 3.8 yards per carry.  The Cowboys will have to rely on the short passing game with Brad Johnson running the show.  He doesn’t appear to have much arm strength left and the Giants will be bringing the heat against him as they have 26 sacks already this season.

The Giants will try to run a balanced offense as they usually do as they average 157.3 yards rushing per game and 221.6 yards passing per game.  The Cowboys’ linebackers could have a tough time in dealing with Brandon Jacobs, Derrick Ward and Ahmad Bradshaw.  The Cowboys also have a lot of injuries in the secondary so they will try to blitz often to attempt to rattle Eli Manning.  If Manning has time he will torch the Cowboys with passes to Plaxico Burress, Amani Toomer and Steve Smith.

PREDICTION:  NEW YORK GIANTS 31, DALLAS COWBOYS 13
