5. (165) Jonathan Goff, MLB

Jonathan Goff has the size (6’2″, 238 pounds) and speed combo (4.75 40) that the scouts love.  But, he is not a good open field tackler and he has problems in pass coverage.  It will be interesting to see if Goff improves in those areas because if he doesn’t he will have a hard time making the Giants’ roster.  Goff played in 46 games (39 starts) at Vanderbilt and he finished with 307 tackles, had 15.5 tackles for a loss, 6.5 sacks, broke up 11 passes and he intercepted 3 passes.  This pick looks like it was a reach by the Giants.
