2. (63) Terrell Thomas, CB

The Giants reached a little bit in the 2nd round for Terrell Thomas who has a long injury history in college.  He stands at 6′0″, 197 pounds and he’s also a tad slow for a corner running a 4.57 40.  Thomas played in 39 games (26 starts) in his career at USC and he made 109 tackles, broke up 22 passes, had 8 interceptions, forced 5 fumbles and recovered a fumble.  The Giants might have the idea of making Thomas into a safety which would make sense.

1. (31) Kenny Phillips, S

The Giants drafted for need in the first round and that’s why they selected Kenny Phillips.  Phillips is 6′1″, 210 pounds and he loves to support the run but he’s a tad slow running a 4.55 40.  He seems to be more of a strong safety type but the Giants might need him at free safety.  Phillips played in 34 games (33 starts) for Miami (Fla) and he made 241 tackles, broke up 15 passes, had 7 interceptions, forced 3 fumbles and recovered a fumble.  Grabbing Phillips was a good move for the World Champs.
