New York Giants 35, New York Jets 24
The Giants dominated the 4th quarter to win the game yesterday. The Jets were leading 24-21 after three quarters but the Giants drove 98 yards in a 8-play drive for a TD and they intercepted a Chad Pennington pass and returned it for a TD in the 4th quarter to win the game. Eli Manning was efficient at QB as he completed 13 of 25 passes for 186 yards with 2 TD passes and 1 interception. Brandon Jacobs came back in a big way from injury as he carried the ball 20 times for 100 yards (5.0 ypc) including a TD run but he also fumbled in the first quarter and it was returned for a TD. Derrick Ward also had a solid game as he carried the ball 13 times for 56 yards (4.3 ypc) and he also caught 3 passes for 8 yards and a TD. Plaxico Burress had a monster game as he caught 5 passes for 124 yards (24.8 avg) including a huge 53-yard TD reception in the 4th quarter. TE Jeremy Shockey pitched in with 2 grabs for 33 yards (16.5 avg) including a TD. The Giants finished up with 188 yards rushing on 39 carries (4.8 ypc) and they also completed 13 of 25 passes for 186 yards.
The defense was outstanding for the Giants yesterday. Rookie CB Aaron Ross only played in the 2nd half of the game due to a suspension for disciplinary reasons but he still made 2 tackles and intercepted 2 passes. One of Ross’ interceptions was in the 4th quarter and he returned it 43 yards for a TD. The Giants held the Jets to 55 yards rushing on 25 carries (2.2 ypc) and the Jets completed 21 of 36 passes for 229 yards.
