The New York Giants acquire kicker Lawrence Tynes from the Chiefs

The Giants have acquired Lawrence Tynes from the Giants for a future draft pick.  Tynes made 24 of 31 (77.4%) of his field goal attempts last season, and he was 35 for 36 on extra points.  Over his three-year NFL career (all with Kansas City), Tynes has made 68 of 87 (78.2%) of his field goal attempts and 137 of 141 extra point attempts.  Tynes is a little bit of a downgrade from Jay Feely, but he’s way better than what the Giants were trying to replace Feely with.

The Giants always seem to find these kickers but none are ever sure things come playoffs. Tynes missed a chip shot in a huge game for the Chiefs at the end of the year and there will be tons more pressure in NY. I am hoping one of the rookie kickers can step up and bounce this guy

I totally agree with you. If the Giants need someone to make a clutch kick…..Tynes is not the man for that. That was awful against the Colts in the playoffs last season. I’ve never seen an NFL kicker miss a FG that was as close as an extra point and that was in a dome! Hopefully you’re right and one of the kids beat Tynes out for the job.
