The Giants needed a corner and a punt returner and they got both of them when they selected Aaron Ross.  Ross has nice size at 6’1″, 193 but he has problems with fast receivers as he only runs a 4.55 in the 40.  He is a better man to man defender than he is at zone coverage.  He’s a gambler on defense and he can get burnt because of that or make big game-changing plays.  He is an outstanding return man and will make an impact there for the Giants.  In 51 games (25 starts) at Texas, Ross made 202 tackles, broke up 33 passes, had 10 interceptions (111 return yards), forced 4 fumbles and recovered 2 fumbles.  Ross only returned 2 kickoffs in college for 53 yards (26.5 avg).  His main asset to the Longhorns was when he returned punts.  Ross has returned 76 punts for 893 yards (11.8 avg) with 3 TD returns.  Look for Ross to likely play in the nickel and dime defenses at the start of the season.  He could work his way into the starting lineup at some point in the season.  But, look for him to make his presence known returning punts for the Giants this season.
