The New York Giants re-sign linebacker Reggie Torbor

Blogged under Bloglockers, Front Page, General by JessePex on Tuesday 24 April 2007 at 8:40 pm

The New York Giants have re-signed Reggie Torbor to a 1-year deal.  He played in all 16 games for the Giants last season and he made 29 tackles, 1 sack, defensed 1 pass and forced a fumble.  Torbor is a decent reserve linebacker but he would be exposed by opposing offenses if he had to start.

The New York Giants are on the clock………….

I have conducted a complete 7 round draft for every team in the NFL.  If you want to see what I have projected for any other team in the NFL, click on the team name in the right hand margin and go to the team’s Draft Report page if you don’t see the article on the front page of the site.  This was a lot of work so I hope you enjoy it.

The Giants will be looking to add defense in this year’s NFL Draft.  Here’s who I think they will pick:

1. (20)  Lawrence Timmons, OLB, Florida State

2. (51)  Eric Wright, CB, UNLV

3. (81)  Buster Davis, MLB, Florida State

4. (116)  Johnnie Lee Higgins, WR, UTEP

5. (153)  Dustin Fry, C, Clemson

6. (189)  Ahmad Bradshaw, RB, Marshall

7. (224)  Andrew Carnatian, OT, Arizona State

7. (250)  Sam Olajubutu, OLB, Arkansas

The Giants would be very pleased if they could add this collection of players to their team.  The defense would get a needed infusion of talent with these additions.

The New York Giants sign QB Anthony Wright

The Giants have signed QB Anthony Wright to a 2-year contract.  This was a good move as the Giants finally have a veteran QB behind Eli Manning that they wouldn’t be scared of using in a game if something happened to Manning.  He played in 4 games last season for the Bengals and he completed all 3 of his pass attempts for 31 yards (109.7 QB Rating).  He also carried the ball 4 times for -12 yards (-3.0 avg), but all of those carries were kneel downs at the end of games that the Bengals won.  Wright has played in 28 games (19 starts) in his NFL career and he’s completed 331 of 598 (55.4%) passes for 3,578 yards with 20 TD passes and 25 interceptions (66.9 QB Rating).  He also has carried the football 79 times for 222 yards (2.8 ypc).  This was a very solid signing for the New York Giants.

The New York Giants sign two defensive players

Defensive tackle Marcus Bell has been signed by the Giants.  He played in 13 games last season for the Detroit Lions and he made 39 tackles, had 1 sack, forced a fumble and recovered a fumble.  Look for the Giants to use Bell a lot in their rotation in the interior of the defensive line.  Bell is a huge man at 6′2″, 325 pounds so he will likely help out in keeping the linebackers clean to make plays when he’s on the field.  The Giants also signed reserve CB Michael Stone.  Stone played in 2 games for the Houston Texans last season and he only made 1 tackle.
