The Giants moved quickly to get a running back to share the carries with Brandon Jacobs in 2007 and all it cost them was Tim Carter. Reuben Droughns had a rough season for the Browns in 2006, but he’s a decent back. He played in 14 games for the Browns last season (12 starts) and he carried the ball 220 times for 758 yards (3.4 ypc) with 4 TD runs. He also caught 27 passes for 169 yards (6.3 avg). Droughns doesn’t have much speed but he is a powerful runner that rushed for over 1,200 yards in both 2004 with the Broncos and 2005 with the Browns. Still, look for Jacobs to win out as the main back for the Giants in 2007 with Droughns getting a lot of work as the back up.
Tim Carter wasn’t much of a loss for the Giants as he always seemed hurt. He played in 16 games for the Giants last season (8 starts) and he caught 22 passes for 253 yards (11.5 avg) with 2 TD grabs.
