The Giants cut a few players and a couple of players retire

The Giants have lost five key players since the season had ended as they have cut LBs Carlos Emmons, LaVar Arrington and offensive tackle Luke Petitgout who was slow to heal from a broken leg.  They could look to re-sign Petitgout or Arrington to a reduced salary, but it’s more likely that both of them will leave.  OT Bob Whitfield and Tiki Barber have both retired.  Losing Barber is tough because he was a great football player on the field and a great person off of it.  Brandon Jacobs will likely get his big chance this season to carry the load.
