New York Giants vs. Washington Redskins

The Giants have fallen on hard times as they’re only won one of their last 7 games.  It’s amazing, but they still have a chance to make the playoffs.  The Redskins have played alot better as a team after they made the switch to Jason Campbell at QB.

The Giants will likely try to keep the ball on the ground against a Redskins defense that is allowing 129.1 yards rushing per game.  Tiki Barber (1,428 yards rushing) and Brandon Jacobs (398 yards rushing) should both have good games on Saturday.  The Redskins have a very poor secondary so if the Giants establish the running game, look for Eli Manning to use alot of play action passes.  Jeremy Shockey is pretty beat up physically right now, so the Giants may prefer to chuck it deep to Plaxico Burress and Tim Carter or David Tyree.

The Redskins will also prefer to run the football.  LeDell Betts has been outstanding this season as he’s rushed for 1,062 yards (4.7 ypc), and he should have another good game.  The Giants run defense is allowing 113.5 yards per game and 4.0 yards per carry so far this season.  Look for Jason Campbell to throw alot of safe passes to TE Chris Cooley and Betts.  Also, watch for the Skins to throw over the top to Santana Moss if the Giants sneak up on defense to stop the run.

This should be a good football game.  The Giants really need this game, but they’ve played really awful lately.  I’m siding with the Redskins in this game because they’re playing better right now and they’re at home.
